Cellular decisions during normal and aberrant differentiation are governed by overlapping nuclear processes which regulate gene expression, epigenetic memory, nuclear organization and genome stability. This EMBO Workshop aims to bring together scientists working on multiple processes taking place within the eukaryotic cell nucleus (replication, transcription, DNA damage responses, epigenetic regulation, nuclear organization) and scientists working on cellular differentiation and cell fate choices to discuss how these processes are interlinked and may cooperate to regulate cellular function and dictate cell fate. Speakers will be covering topics from stem cell research and cell fate choices during development to nuclear structure and function, regulation of (symmetric and asymmetric) cell division and links with disease. This range of research topics will permit participants to decipher the underlying networks regulating nuclear function and how they may be affected in disease or exploited to guide cell fate decisions.
