  The International Conference on Ionizing Processes (ICIP) is the fourth edition of a biannual conference first organized at Brookhaven National Laboratory in October 2016. The original initiative of the main organizer and Chair of the first ICIP, Dr. James Wishart, was to replace the canceled Radiation Chemistry Gordon Research Conference, which had been held since 1953 (for the history of RC GRC, see: https://www.grc.org/radiation-chemistry-conference/default.aspx). The second edition of ICIP was organized at the University of Maryland in July 2018 and chaired by Prof. Mohamad Al-Sheikhly. The third edition of ICIP, which was scheduled to be held at the Idaho National Laboratory, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic from the summer of 2020 to July 2022. However, it had to be held online because the proposed conference location was still subject to pandemic restrictions. The latest edition of the conference was organized and chaired by Dr. Gregory Holmbeck from Idaho National Laboratory. Continuing the tradition of the Radiation Chemistry Gordon Research Conference, the ICIP conferences concentrated on fundamental science as well as current application areas including nuclear power, materials/polymer processing, and clinical/radiation treatment in medicine, as well as water treatment. The Conference brought together investigators at the forefront of their field and provided opportunities for junior scientists and graduate students to present work in poster format or as contributors to the Young Investigator sessions. The program and format provided excellent avenues to promote cross-disciplinary collaborations.
