ENIUGH organized the 4th European Congress on World and Global History in cooperation with the École normale supérieure and the Collège de France under the auspices of the Paris Sciences et Lettres Research University.Under the theme “Encounters, Circulations and Conflicts”, this year’s congress seeks to challengethe problematic opposition of centres and peripheries, which is still influential in historical research. The congress stimulated a discussion on the meaning and relevance of relations, comparisons, transfers, and entanglements between states, peoples, communities, and individuals, as well as the destructive effects of international and global connectivity in a long durée perspective (world wars). Participants from Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas in about 750 contributions in 19 sessions and 158 panels will present recent research on the growing and diversifying agenda of World and Global History.
