It is our great pleasure to announce the 18th International Symposium on Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics (ISEM) 2017, to be held in Chamonix Mont Blanc, France, the international capital of mountaineering and skiing, from 3 to 6 September, 2017. Since the first symposium in 1995, which took place in Japan, the event has been held in Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, Austria, USA, China, Canada and Japan. Once again, the conference will provide participants with the opportunity to fruitfully exchange on their experience and ideas and share the latest information on Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics. Thanks to your articles and presentations and your active participation at the event, ISEM 2017 is set to be an academically enriching and truly memorable experience for all attendees. On behalf of the board of Grenoble Electrical Engineering laboratory (Grenoble-INP, CNRS, Université Grenoble Alpes), Institut Néel (CNRS, Université Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble-INP), Center for Applied Mathematics (MINES ParisTech) and the organizing committee, we cordially invite you to Chamonix Mont-Blanc, France, to attend ISEM 2017, actively participate in its technical sessions, and contribute to the continued success of this symposium series. Thanks to the timing of ISEM 2017, participants can also attend the XXII International Workshop on Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation (ENDE 2017), held in Saclay, France on 6-8 September, 2017. More information on transportation between the two sites will be provided in due course. Aims The Symposium will focus on applications of electromagnetics and mechanics, with an emphasis on both basic science and early engineering developments in these interdisciplinary fields. The symposium strongly encourages the practical application of emerging technologies to problems of direct relevance to industries. Consequently, both theoretical and applied research topics are of strong interest.
