We describe a general approach to solving few-body scattering problems via a complete few-body continuum discretization. The method is based on the formalism of the stationary wave packets (WPs) which are normalized analogs of exact scattering wave functions. After a projection onto theWP space, all operators and wave functions are represented by matrices and vectors and the equations of scattering theory are reduced to the simple matrix ones. In a few- body case, the WP basis states are constructed as direct products of the WPs along every Jacobi momentum. Then one arrives at a solution of the scattering problem on the lattice in momentum space with cells built from discretization bins defined for different Jacobi momenta. The approach is illustrated by the calculations for direct nuclear reactions and by the Faddeev-type calculations in 3N system at low and intermediate energies. Moreover, the discrete WP representation can be used also in different fields of quantum physics such as atomic and chemical physics, nuclear matter and also quantum statistics.
