Compounds of Group 14 elements (E= Si, Ge, Sn) containing element-element bonds possess unique properties (luminescence, absorption of UV, electrochemical oxidation, conductivity) based on semiconducting nature of the parent elements and unusual property of electron delocalization of σ-bonds E-E [1, 2]. As it was established [3-5] the properties of catenated Group 14 compounds depend on conformation, quantity of the conjugated E atoms, nature (electron donating or electron withdrawing) of substituents at E atom. In this report we present our recent results concerning the synthesis and investigation of the structure and properties of several types of Group 14 compounds containing E-E bonds. [1] C.
