We have modified a global three-dimensional (3D) model, primarily intended to be employed for space weather applications, namely, the modelling and prediction of geomagnetically induced currents. For the specific purposes, Refining this global model was aimed at increasing the detail of the conductivity structure within the transition zone between Eurasia and Pacific ocean. The modifications of the original model included some changes of entire global conductivity pattern, such as: • corrections of the a-priori conductivity values of oceanic lithosphere • employing the conductivity distribution obtained from geomagnetic observatory data Then the model of Philippine plate conductivity, derived from seafloor EM data, was embedded into the global model. In order to include it consistently with the background structure, we calculated the weighted average of both original model and that being embedded within the region covered by the latter one. The unity weights were assumed for the original model, along with the coordinate-dependent Gaussian weights for the Philippine plate model. This procedure resulted in a substantial improvement of the model detail within the considered region.
