The main oil production areas in Russia are situated in the Northern Siberia, and in the same places there are situated most extensive bogs polluted with oil. Application of remediation technologies, developed in Russia, on impassable bogs polluted with oil is almost impossible technically and economically unfavorable. Besides a severe climate with cold and long winters and short cool summers it is caused also by absence of any roads in tundra and forest-tundra and emergency oil spills on fenny bogs impassable for special machinery devices. Therefore an elimination of such spills and their consequences on the bogs is a very actual and difficult problem there. Depth of oil penetration on bogs doesn't exceed of 0.6-1.0 m and often is propped up with water or permafrost. Processes of self-restoration such bogs can prolong for several hundred years. The pollution can extend on width there and the irreparable damage will be caused to the Nature of the Polar Region. In 2011 there was an attempt to clean from oil a strongly polluted bog with using (augmentation) of a bacterial oil-oxidizing preparation Rhoder. Oil spill was spring, and oil was partially collected with a pump for sludge. Three times the bog was watered with the Rhoder and one time with a fertilizer and lime. As a result level of oil pollution in the peat was decreased by 32%-98% depending on initial concentration of oil which varied from 21-29 kg of crude oil on 1 kg of absolutely dry matter (DM) to 450-850 g/kg DM, and a depth of penetration of oil into the moss. The received results have induced a development of a new remediation technology in laboratory conditions with using of electron acceptors and the Rhoder to enhance of oil oxidation on the surface and in the depth of the peat. There is presented an attempt to develop a new aerobic-anaerobic bioremediation technology for fenny bogs polluted with oil for using it in the Northern part of Russia.
