In the framework of our research we considered the changes of cognitive processes that are related to aging and different types of daily intellectual activities that can contribute to the preservation of cognitive resources late in life. The results of our research have shown that levels of fluid intelligence and working memory decline due to the process of aging. We have also found out that there are certain daily activities that positively affect the performance of cognitive tasks: these are reading and watching educational television programs. The statistical analysis also revealed that there is a strong positive correlation between the levels of working memory and fluid intelligence and the frequency of computer and Internet usage. Moreover, the previous experience of older adults which includes processing of large amount of data in the workplace also influences cognitive task performance late in life.
