Schopenhauer is known to have been the most pessimistic philosopher in the world. However, researches of his philosophy pay attention to ambiguous nature of his worldview. Even a cursory analysis will reveal that Schopenhauer's writings are full of optimistic motives. Schopenhauer seems to have been implying that salvation from the world full of suffering will be possible as soon as we take the path of asceticism and disinterested contemplation. His colourful negative postulates can be interpreted as arguments against Leibniz's theodicy rather than central provisions of his philosophical system.
