Mechanical model is proposed to study process of contact fatigue damage accumulation at coating-substrate interface in friction contact of a smooth coating with rough counterface. Determination of parameters in damage accumulation law is based on analysis of experimental dependence of the number of cycles at the micro level before the coating delamination on the load, and also on the results of calculation of stresses in the coating. The model is verified for nanoscale oxide amorphous-nanocrystalline layers deposited on the surface of quartz glass. It is shown that the linear damage summation model traditionally used to describe the destruction of bulk materials can also be used to study a specific object such as the interface between the coating and the substrate whose properties are determined not only by the properties of the bound materials but also by deposition technique. The calculation of contact fatigue damage accumulation rate at the coating-substrate interface is used to analyze the influence of friction coefficient and non-fatigue wear rate on the number of cycles before the coating delamination.
