General climatic information about thunderstorms in Moscow city (Russia) was given for the period from 1954 to 2018 by the data of Moscow University Meteorological observatory including their total probability, annual and diurnal courses, specific features of different seasons, relations with synoptic processes, etc. Average dynamics of the wind velocity in the atmospheric boundary layer up to 500 m height during thunderstorms was studied by the data of MODOS sodar (METEK) which operates at Moscow University Meteorological observatory since 2004. As was found thunderstorms in Moscow are usually connected with stronger wind during 30–40 minutes after their beginning. Besides, changes of the surface air composition in time of thunderstorms were analyzed as well. A growth of the surface ozone during strong thunderstorms was found but it seems to be not statistically significant. Climatology of thunderstorms in India is presented too. A comparison between climatic conditions of thunderstorms in Russia and in India was discussed.
