According to the provisions of the Updated United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection (Para. 63) “Member States should work towards enhancing consumer confidence in e-Commerce by the continued development of transparent and effective consumer protection policies, ensuring a level of protection that is not less than that afforded in other forms of trade”. These provisions imply practical, effective implementation in the jurisdiction of Member States. On January 1, 2019, in the Russian Federation a Law came into force and it is aimed at the phased implementation of the approved Strategy of the Russian Federation state policy in the field of consumer rights until 2030. This Law amended the current Law “On protection of consumer rights”, expanding its effect on activities of owners of e-trading platforms, aggregating information about goods (services). The Law is intended for protection of consumers’ rights and interests in their legal relations with professional participants in the consumer market with an e-Commerce platform (Market place). All attempted measures are aimed at improving the legal regulation of consumer rights protection of the digital market in the Russian Federation, taking into account the analysis of foreign practices and recommendations of international organizations.
