Modern soils in the steppe area perfectly reflect climatic fluctuations in the Holocene. The main goal of our research is to reveal the landscape parameters of various time slices based on the features of paleosols buried under kurgans, which are widely spread in the study region. The relevance of the study is based on a complex set of methods, including morphogenetic studies of soils at various hierarchical levels and physical and chemical properties. The age of buried soils was determined by radiocarbon dating of various carbonaceous substances. Based on the study of buried soils we can conclude, that the climate in the Bronze Age was extra dry, while in the Early Iron age the climate became more humid, the same as in modern conditions.
