APECS has a great experience in education and outreach activities from its involvement in Polar Resource Book project during the IPY as well as IPY Education, Outreach and Communication (EOC) Assessment Project to the projects and initiatives developed and inspired by APECS members such as Antarctica Day, International Polar Week, Frostbytes and many others. APECS is an example of how a community-based and community-driven group can achieve broad international recognition and can serve as a model for future organizations aiming at recruiting early career scientists in a meaningful and lasting way.
