Several papers reported that combined catalyst (CombiCat) prepared by mechanical mixing oxidation (MnOx, MnOx-CeOy, etc.) and reduction (FeBeta, FeZSM-5, etc.) catalysts results in significant improvement of activity in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx by ammonia.Detailed study of a possible origin of the observed synergistic effect suggests that the improvement of catalytic performance is due to SCR proceeds over CombiCat via “bifunctional” pathway comprising (1) NO2 formation on oxidation component followed by (2) Fast SCR reaction on reduction component.
