The mechanism of coadaptation in host parasite system represents one of the most intriguing questions in hostparasite relationship and coevolution, many aspects of which remains unrevealed. A community of tropical birds in the Cat Tien National park in the South of Vietnam was studied in 2011-2015. For 414 birds of 66 species, the relations between the infestation parameters of parasites collected by non-invasive methods and physiological measurements of birds were investigated. Ectoparasites: ticks (Ixodidae), feather mites (Analgesidoidea), chewing lice (Phthiraptera) and louse flies (Hippoboscidae); blood parasites - microfilariae (Onchocercidae) and protists were checked. Hematological indexes WBC and H/L, basal metabolism rate (BMR) and other physiological indicators were measured and compared in three groups of birds: oscine and suboscine passerines and non-passerines. Analysis by the generalized linear model confirmed the effect of ectoparasites infestation on hematological indexes in both groups of passerines, although no significant effect of parasites on BMR was observed. Suboscines (Eurylaimides) were the only group in which the WBC increase was accompanied by the rise of BMR and showed a high level of infestation by chewing lice. At the same time the host switch between the unrelated species and Cymbirhynchus macrorhynchos (Eurylaimidae) by chewing louse Myrsidea claytoni was shown earlier. Currently, we address the role of host switch in relations of physiological parameters and infestation by the analysis at the single bird species level. The data will be discussed in connection with the results of phylogenetic study of Myrsidea and their hosts by several molecular markers.
