The photonic crystal composite of porous silicon and azobenzene-based copolymer has high optical anisotropy caused by polarized light illumination and observed by spectral shift of the cavity mode to 30 nm in the visible range. One-dimensional photonic crystals (PhCs) are simple and robust media of unique dispersion properties enabling to control the light. The development of the stimuli-responsive photonic structures presents an important task due to their unique optical properties promising for the different applications in photonics. The porous silicon (PS) is perspective material to create functional photonic materials and PhCs [1] hence they can be impregnated with a broad range of dopants like liquid crystals. The azobenzene-based photochromic substances can be impregnated in the porous silicon structure to create a photo-tunable composite.
