A wear model for composite materials with a periodic structure is presented with respect to the third body influence. Formulation of the problem takes into account the rheological properties of a counter body. The wear process takes place in sliding of the viscoelastic body over the surface of a rigid half-space, with a constant velocity. The conditions of the full contact without gaps are considered. The model is developed for the steady-state wear regime, the results are analysed for various geometrical and tribological characteristics of the composite and the sliding velocity of the viscoelastic body, as well as for the third body thickness.
