In this work, we propose a new method based on anisotropic light diffraction in a periodically non-homogeneous acoustic field created by a phased array piezoelectric transducer. Figure 1 illustrates this method. The phased array transducer consists of a few piezoelectric sections of equal size excited with phase shift ΔΦ=π. The radiation pattern of the transducer contains two main lobes oriented at angles Ψ=V/2f(l+a), as shown in the figure. Here V is the acoustic velocity, f is the frequency, l is the width of every acoustic beam and a is the gap between the beams. In this case, the acoustic field can be approximated by a system of two fold acoustic wavefronts turned through the angle 2Ψ each to other. Choosing parameters of AO interaction, one can provide diffraction of ordinary and extraordinary light into the same direction.
