family-work balance, transition to family-work integration, demographic and family policy, way of living, demographic challenges J11, J16, J18 This paper is devoted to new transition from family-work balance to family-work integration. I analyse the new features of way of living which provoke this transition (employment model, urbanization, new technologies, ageing of population, consumer behavior); the main features of the integration (blurring of clear boundaries , complexity and universality, profound changes in both areas); its conditions and benefits. Paper dealth with Russian demographic policy case in context of demographic challenges in country. Using official statistics and documents I investigate three pillars of family-life balance policy: time-saving service in childcare, time-flexible labor market, time-use equality in the care economy. The last one was studied for some other countries. The main conclusions are: 1) new way of living and demographic challenges are drivers of transition from FW balance to FW integration; 2) there is no even balance in some (many) countries. Discussion raises questions: Is disbalance result of bad policy? What is driver – technology conditions or socio-culture shift? What is about timing, stages, duration and speed of transition? What are the gendered factors? Are there different barriers to the transition and transition effects for various professions/gender/age/race?
