The abstract is devoted to the study of the language picture of the world through the description and analysis of stable turnovers representing human social vices in Russian and Arabic linguistic cultures. Examples of interpreting phraseological units (in the broad sense of phraseology) in the cultural space are given. National-cultural elements and figurative foundations that complement the semantics of these units are identified. The euphemistic function of these units is revealed.
