At the Virology Department and Belozersky Institute of Physico-Chemical Biology (Lomonosov Moscow State University) in cooperation with Lorh Research Institute of Potato Farming of the All-Russian Academy of Agriculture several highly efficient methods of molecular diagnostics of viral and viroid infections of potato for analysis of the Russian Federation Central Collection of sanitized samples of potato cultivars were elaborated. In particular, this is a highly sensitive technology of visual molecular diagnostics of viroid and viral infections of potato by molecular hybridization of virus RNAs and compliant DNA-probes labeled with (dien)platinum, the RT-PCR and DNA probe-dot immunoblot combined technology to attain the maximum sensitivity of the visual molecular diagnostics, the DNA chip of low density able to determine simultaneously six viruses and viroid of potato. We used immunochromatography analysis (flow lateral immune analysis) on fabricated by us test strips for determination of tobacco mosaic virus and potato viruses X, Y and leaf roll (PLRV) for mass diagnostics of infections of potato cultivars under field conditions. We plan to organize the production of the immunochromatography test-strips accessible for common people for the reliable mass molecular express diagnostics of the hard-to-reach and poor accumulating plant virus and viroid infections and realization of rational tactics proposed for the mass laboratory and field diagnosis of viral infections on the molecular level important particularly in emergencies. Moreover, the realization of a new approach for the mass molecular diagnostics of virus and viroid infections in emergencies is in progress.
