Knowledge of the interactions of carbon dots (CDs) with solvent molecules plays a key role in understanding the properties of CDs and their efficient use in various fields. The complex heterogeneous composition of the surface groups of the CDs often complicates the study of the interaction between the CDs and the solvent; therefore, the mechanisms of interaction between the surface groups of the CDs and the surrounding molecules are still not clear. Only a few publications are known in which the effect of hydrogen bonds between the surface of CDs and the solvent on the fluorescent properties of CDs is shown, as well as the significant effect of CDs on hydrogen bonds in suspensions, in particular, the difference in the effect of CDs with various functional surface groups on the aqueous environment. This study presents the results of a study of the effect of CDs obtained by the hydrothermal method from aqueous solutions of citric acid and ammonia on hydrogen bonds in an aqueous suspension. The study was carried out using Raman spectroscopy using genetic algorithms to decompose the spectral bands of stretching vibrations of OH groups of water molecules. The results obtained are a preparatory stage for studying the interaction of the surface of carbon nanoparticles with the environment (in particular, with biomacromolecules) by the method of spectroscopy of Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering.
