State University Currently, in the technical and regulatory documentation, the acidity module is used to describe and select raw materials for the production of basalt fibers. To calculate this parameter, a formula is usually used that includes the mass content of oxides [Perevozchikova, 2014]. In scientific articles, researchers also usually present composition data in mass percent. However, from a chemical point of view, the molar content of glass components is more significant. For example, based on molar concentration, the quantitative structural characteristic of glasses (NB /T) is calculated. NBO/T is the ratio of non-bridging oxygen atoms to tetrahedrally coordinated cations. Based on the data obtained, it was concluded that the use of the structural parameter NBO / T more accurately allows predicting the strength of basalt fibers based on their chemical composition.
