It is notorious that marketable appearance of customer items is instrumental in gaining a competitive edge, especially in automobile production. Decorative parts with minute surface are traditionally widely used design elements for “external finishing” of car body. Almost all exterior decorative parts are made of Al alloys. Depends on market demands, they have different outside appearance, but must comply with the similar general requirements of quality. The present report is dedicated to state-of-the-art process developments in anodizing and electrolytic brightening of Al-parts, which make it possible to show a great improvement of surface quality: extreme environmental conditions resistance, stability against long-term strongly alkaline attack, etc.
