Now that the coronavirus pandemic has clearly shown us that we all live in a globalized world as close neighbors, the theme of our conference "Sustainable Development Through Solidarity" becomes even more relevant. Why is that? Because we must look for the most promising ways out of this situation in order to overcome the global crisis not only in the environment or health care, but also in the economy, politics, and culture. Finally, we must learn to live in harmony with nature. And it is quite obvious that such problems cannot be solved without building an ecological civilization. Of course, economic and political interests, as well as cultural characteristics, will always underlie disagreements, sometimes the most acute, and there should be no illusion. But the lack of common approaches and principles, value attitudes and a mutually acceptable language of communication will always be an insurmountable obstacle to, if not unity, then at least mutual understanding of peoples in conditions when no one can evade this. Thus, the world community today faces an urgent need for serious and, above all, worldview, value, and spiritual changes. Now, more than ever before, humanity needs a global civilizational revolution, which would become a powerful impetus for the formation of a global civil society, and in solving international problems would launch the process of transition from the “law of force” to “the force of law”. This is how humanity can count on stable international security and the construction of a new world order that would meet modern realities and create conditions for constructive cooperation based on common goals and principles. This is especially important to bear in mind when it comes to specific practice, and not only at the global, but also at the regional, local levels, where the principle put forward at the time by the Club of Rome continues to sound relevant - "Think globally, but act locally!" ... However, now, when humanity has finally entered the era of multidimensional globalization and total interdependence, at the level of international relations, one should be guided by a somewhat different principle - “think globally, act together!”.
