In my talk, I am going to consider the subject-matter of logic in the light of recent developments in logic per se and adjacent areas. To begin with, I plan to review different concepts of logic. Next, I will examine in detail the widespread notion of logic as the study of valid inferences and correct reasoning. More specifically, I will try to establish grounds for the claim that (1) neither a compendium of current results integrated under the label ‘logic’ is the science of how to evaluate reasoning and construct arguments, (2) nor a study of how normative models of reasoning are used in different discursive contexts can be identified with logic. The final part of my talk suggests modernization of Frege-Łukasiewicz’s ontological vision of logic as a science of specific abstract entities.
