We study the Compton single ionization of positronium in comparison with the same reaction at hydrogen. The initial photon energy of a few keV allows one to apply the non-relativistic approach. Interesting differences in the behavior of various differential cross sections of the process are observed. In particular, the conditions were found, under which the electron and positron move parallel to each other with equal velocities. This suggests that the probability of annihilation is suppressed in this continuum state, and it is likely to be a long-lived one.
