In the talk I review the main hypotheses of FRBs origin involving neutron stars, starting from early ideas proposed immediately after the announcement of the first event (Lorimer et al. 2007) and up to simultaneous detection of a flare from SGR 1935 in radio and X-rays in 2020 (CHIME, STARE2, Konus-Wind, INTEGRAL, Agile, Insight-HMXT). Particular attention is paid to abandoning hypotheses involving analogous of giant pulses and development of variety of models involving magnetars, including those in binary systems to explain periodic sources.
