In the field of High Performance Computing, the task of software package detection is poorly studied, even though the information about packages used in supercomputer applications helps to better understand the peculiarities of supercomputer usage. There are several existing solutions to tackle that problem, but they are far from ideal. In this paper we show how our previously developed method for detecting similar applications can be used to solve this problem, as well as analyze results of its operation with some insights on supercomputer usage. According to the evaluation on the Lomonosov-2 supercomputer, these methods found ~80% more jobs with package usage than the existing method.
