Kashmir is a disputed territory, which is claimed by three major countries: India, Pakistan and China. Relevance of the topic is conditioned both by growing influence of this conflict on domestic political processes of India and Pakistan and by complication of the structure of factors influencing dynamics of this type of conflict. This situation is complicated by huge ethnic and religious diversity of Kashmir population. South Asia is one of the most ethnopolitically unstable regions in the world. The strategic location of the region, historically a crossroads of major population migratory flows, has made it one of the most ethnically diverse geographic regions in the world. In addition, South Asia is populated by followers of almost all major religions of the world. Therefore, the Kashmir conflict remains a struggle both for territory and for the rights of people to determine their future. However, the governments of Pakistan and India have failed to come to a peaceful solution and have not taken clear political action, so a peaceful political solution to the Kashmir problem must be sought.
