The paper stresses attention on the importance of sustainable development concept implementation in Russia, especially in the period after RIO+20 and in the context of the significant worsening of the environmental situation in the country. Present- day landscape methodology to the environment is presented as the basement for land use/cover rational planning to optimize the usage of the land and other nature resources.
