Demand for learning Russian as a foreign language in Turkey is increasing drastically each year. One of the main reasons for this demand is the needs in the fields of trade, economy, politics and tourism. However, it is known that Turkish-speaking students have serious difficulties while learning Russian. There are several reasons for this. Russian differs significantly from Turkish as it is included in the East Slavic subgroup of the Slavic language group of the Indo-European language family. One of the most difficult issues for Turkish-speaking students during their Russian learning process is the verbs of motion. Russian verbs of motion pose a serious problem not only for Turkish-speaking students, but also for every foreign student learning Russian as a foreign language. There are 17 pairs of verbs of motion in Russian. The 17 pairs verbs in question are incomplete verbs. Verbs of motion are divided into two groups as one-way and non-one-way verbs or verbs with different directions. The presentation of verbs of motion differs in textbooks and applications. Because there are verbs that are rarely used in the communicative sense among the pairs in question (носиться, гнаться). In the textbooks and practices, the order of presentation of verbs, the way of explaining grammar subject, and the exercises related to the subject play a great role in understanding the grammatical subject in question. The number of teaching books in Russian prepared for Turkish-speaking students is extremely low. In the present circumstances, secondary and higher education institutions in Turkey generally uses universal or other language group motivated textbooks for their students. As a result of the examinations made on the textbooks and applications, some deficiencies were determined as the order of presentation of the verbs of motion, the way they are explained, and the exercise models prepared in terms of comprehending the subject. In some textbooks, it has been observed that a large number of movement verbs are given together in the first place, and in others, exercise models are inadequate in communicative terms. In electronic applications, although the visual presentation of the subject was successful, it was determined that the grammatical features of the verbs of motion were not clearly conveyed and they were weak in terms of the exercise model. It is thought that it will be beneficial to adopt a native language-focused method and prepare applications with native language-focused textbooks in order to learn Russian verbs of motion effectively by Turkish-speaking students.
