The interest in the Arctic region is high at the moment and therefore, the role and importance of the Arctic has to be communicated at different levels to different audiences and stakeholders. The recent International Polar Year 2007-2008 had placed a strong emphasis on education and outreach which are essential parts of every project and initiative being implemented within the polar community and for the region. Knowledge of the Arctic environment, societies and changes is the basis for decision-making as well as to adopting of improved policies and regulations on different levels. By communicating the outcomes of the Arctic science and delivering the relevant information to the communities, decision-makers, interdisciplinary science projects, funding agencies, industry and other numerous Arctic stakeholders, scientists can assure the development of appropriate and effective policy-responses. This session will discuss different methods, approaches and visions of education and outreach tools for Arctic research communication; their role in increasing the understanding and awareness of the Arctic and in building the human capacity of the region; as well as the dialogue on how the Arctic science outreach helps to build and shape agendas, strategies and priorities for the sustainable future of the Arctic. In April 2016 the team of authors has launched the outreach project about life and science in the Russian Arctic in the way of online webinars. The main feature of the project is that the federal media (informational partner to the State Commission on Arctic) teamed up with scientists to provide the better understanding of the research and changes in the region. Are there the better way of understanding in between media and scientists? How the dialogue was established? What is the general audience of the current project? Do we properly address our scientific goals and visions? Are the scientific agendas reaching the policy-makers? Do scientists communicate their research in the way of better understanding of the region and its changes? Is the audience of the project attentive and responsive to the topics brought up during the webinars? All these questions were summarized and analyzed as well as the better understanding on how we as scientists should communicate the outcomes of our research to different stakeholders was built up.
