Since Intercultural Communication courses have become an important component of many university programs, the demand for high quality and up-to-date teaching materials is constantly growing. Alongside with well-established literature and textbooks, describing key theories and concepts of intercultural communication studies, media texts comprise undoubtedly one of the major resources for university lectures to teach and discuss with students recent trends in intercultural communication practices. The talk dwells on the use of texts from the British quality press in teaching “Intercultural Communication Practices” (Практикум по межкультурной коммуникации) – a core course for students with specialization “Linguistics and Intercultural communication” in Russian universities. The attention is focused on such crucial themes as the set of topics recommended for study and discussion, criteria for the selection of media texts, principles of their pragmalinguistic adaptation, a system of tasks and exercises aimed at enhancing students’ communicative and language skills, the most efficient ways to build up their intercultural communication competence, etc.
