An important characteristic of the disruption of asteroids and meteoroids in outer space and in the Earth's atmosphere is the mass distribution of their fragments. Description of mass distribution is obtained depending on the fragment mass normalized to the total mass, the mass fraction the largest fragment and a free parameter - power index. The resulting formula is tested by comparison with the results of many impact experiments modeling the disruption of asteroids at collision in outer space, for different types of fragmentation. The formula is also applied to describe the mass distributions of recovered meteorites in the cases of elleven meteorite showers.
