Previous research has shown that BiVO4 is a promising electrode, in particular, anode material forlithium-ion batteries; it shows an excellent reversible capacity of 769 mAh/g at 0.12 A/g with a greatcapacity retention. The motivation to use this material in this study is its unique layered crystalstructure. Varying the conditions of the synthesis makes it possible to easily manage the morphologyof the material that can be used to fine tune lithium-ion batteries. The use of graphene can improvematerial stability and conductivity. That is, the significance of conducting additives in devicefabrication will be smaller and therefore the anode of the same size will have more electrode material.This means that capacity of the cell could be increased without changing size, shape and structure ofthe battery. Also graphene addition can make anode material more durable, because graphene is thestrongest material ever produced, it is able to prevent a crystal structure from cracking duringcycling.Graphene modified BiVO4 were synthesized by hydrothermal method at a temperature 180 oCusing bismuth nitrate, ammonium metavanadate, graphene oxide and hydrazine chloride as areducing agent. Electrochemical properties of initial and graphene modified materials were examined.
