With the help of multicolour photometry methods used to observe star catalogs, the possibility of obtaining rough spectra of asteroids without reference to solar analogs is shown. The resulting spectra allow for an accurate classification of asteroids according to Tholen's taxonomic classes. The suitability for these studies of the APASS catalogue is shown, the limits of acceptable colour indices for standard stars are determined. Methods are proposed for preparing the homogeneous photometric sequences from discontinuos observations, to which our program of the periods of the variable stars searching can be applied. No a priori assumptions about the shape of the light curve is need. The technique was applied to observations of asteroids carried out in 2008-2022 at the observatory in Simeiz using a 1-m telescope and showed its effectiveness.
