The process of digitalization of education is one of the megatrends of modernity associated with the development of information society and the modernization of all social institutions. Digital platforms are software environments in which hardware is integrated with application solutions that increase the efficiency of all spheres of society. In the field of education, the process of platformization is determined by the penetration of digital paid and closed platforms and related digital products into the process of teaching and managing educational processes. The paper considers the features of using various digital platforms in education. The positive influence of platforms on the development of students' abilities, as well as on the educational process as a whole, is shown. Special attention is paid to some significant problems and risks of using digital platforms in the learning process, primarily related to a decrease in motivation for learning and interpersonal communication skills, impaired cognitive functions, healthy lifestyle, etc.
