In the last decades in the rotation of our planet some anomalies are observed. In 2016 the trend toward acceleration of rotation started, led to the quickest rotational velocity observed over 60-year history of precise observations. On 29 June 2022 length of day (LOD) anomaly was -1.6 ms. If this tendency continues, International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service would need to subtract leap second from UTC for the first time in history. Simultaneously the Chandler wobble of the Earth’s pole stared to damp in 2000-s and almost disappeared in 2017-2020. Its amplitude, 120 milliseconds of arc in average, dropped below 20 mas recently. Its phase is also changing. Similar situation took place in 1920-1930. These anomalies require explanation, which possibly lies in the redistribution of energy from meridional components of Earth rotation toward axial. With Earth rotation the gravity field and climate change as well. We suppose that Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) and El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) could be involved. The nearest future will uncover how ocean and atmosphere react to these anomalies in the Earth’s rotation.
