Russian Federation has various conditions for the natural hazards occurrence. No single approach can be used for estimation of probability and variability of their impacts, while the territorial development requires data and prognosis of how to prevent or what should be used as mitigation measures. Lomonosov Moscow State University is the leading facility in education and conducting scientific research in the field of natural hazards. The experience is obtained in practically all the regions of Russia, with main focus on mountain areas and the Arctic regions. The lecture will shortly summarize the understanding of the slope-sliding processes such as debris flows and snow avalanches, as it is presented to students.
