Abstract This work examines the bilingual creativity of Nicholas Kotar, a bicultural American author of Russian heritage. Nicholas Kotar comes from a family of Russian-American descendants of the first-wave Russian émigrés who left after the Russian Revolution in 1917. The objective of this study is to analyze Russian linguacultural features in Nicholas Kotar’s English-language literary works. The writer’s mythopoetic novels and podcasts are examined for transcultural and translingual phenomena represented in contemporary American literature. Nicholas Kotar’s novels are inspired by Slavic fairy tales and folklore, and incorporate Slavic linguacultural elements through mythopoesis, a narrative genre of myth-making. This work compares the blending and merging of Russian-English linguistic elements in the literary discourse. The analysis contributes to the study of Russian-English language contact within literary space in bilingual works, translation, and literary studies. Research results provide new insights into the linguistic and cultural hybridity in contemporary Russian-American fiction. Keywords: bilingualism, bilingual writers, heritage language speakers, linguaculture, transcultural literature, mythopoetic literature, World Englishes, Russian-English, bilingual creativity
