After the collapse of the Soviet Union the State concept of attitudes to sport has changed completely – we can see that the main attitude in State policy now is to construct a lot of places for spectacular sport. The State policy could be resumed in the following way: from the full personal involvement into sport activity – to full personal involvement into sport entertainment. Of course it is necessary to form a National Identity through sport competition, but we should not forget about people’s health. We can see that there is low rate of people who regularly involved into sport exercises - it is only one fifth of the population. And this is very low level of development of physical culture and health savings. At the same time we can stress, that the situation with availability of the sports centers considerably improved in comparison with the Soviet Russia. If, for instance in Soviet times there was mainly one swimming pool per city, and 7-8 pools in Moscow, now we can observe lots of sports centers developed. According to last all-Russia opinion polls, 34% of respondents stressed that they live close to stadiums, 28% - that they have corner yard sport areas, 27% - sport clubs and fitness centres, and 20% - that they have corner swimming pools. In this situation we decided to implement qualitative study in order to analyze the main barriers to people’s involvement in physical exercises and sport activity in Russia. Total 25 people were selected. The sample included: 1 People who never did physical exercises on a constant basis – 5 (person) 2 People who used to do physical activities and stopped to do it now – 5 (person) 3 New comers – people who joined fitness centre recently – 5 (person) 4 Former sportsmen, who stopped to do exercises on a regular basis (5 person) 5 Former sportsmen, who had a long break and then began again to do exercises (5 person).
