The comparison of West-European and East-European approaches is carried out. The most important points in what is in common and what is different are analyzed. The main differences grow from 1) different research traditions that relay on different theoretical background, and 2) different political and economical situation in West Europe and East Europe. The essence of modern approaches in West European work psychology is to develop specific programs intended to organize and maintain the effective and safe work of the whole organization. Two different strategies in dealing with errors are discussed: error prevention and error management. In Russian work psychology as an example of East European tradition error prevention and health protection programs are developed for two levels: man-technical devices and individual resources.
