The focus of this study - a review of research on equality/inequality in Russia, published in the last 15 years. The aim is to analyse the main direction of research done in the field of inequality, including social policy initiatives and their effect on inequality. In the late XX century, interest in theoretical and empirical research on inequalities in Russia went down and started growing again in the early XXI century. It was at the beginning of the 2000s when informative and highly professional studies were carried out dedicated to social justice and issues of equality and inequality in the Russian society. They show that mainly two dimensions of the notion of justice are considered. Firstly, it is considered as the bridging income divide between different population groups, regions, etc. and secondly, as a possibility for next generations to meet their needs at a particular level. In Russia there are various think tanks which carry out inequality studies, their results published during the last decade: "The poor and the rich in today's Russia", 2003; "Poverty and inequality in modern Russia: 10 years later", 2013; "Social inequality in sociological dimension" ,2006; "The poor in Russia. Who are they? How do they live? What are their goals? », 2008; "Russian everyday life in the context of crisis", 2009; "Standards of living and lifestyle of the Russian population in 1989-2009", 2011; National Human Development Report in the Russian Federation, 2014; “Income and expenditures of the population: the main changes in 2015”, etc. One of the main areas of contemporary research on inequality in Russia is income inequality. The worth trend manifested itself in relation to wages. During the 2000s, Russia experienced a paradoxical situation: poverty (at least according to official statistics) decreases while inequality is growing. Income inequality leads to inequality in access to social services. In my opinion, education and health should be the most relevant research in the field of inequality. The next most significant area of research on inequality in Russia is the disparity between regions. This review also includes monographs and articles on gender inequality in Russia. In the end, publications analyzing the opinion of Russian citizens about justice, equality / inequality in the country as well as research on equality / inequality in the media were analyzed.
