The study revealed multidirectional landscape dynamic of centennial scale - the forest-steppe of the studied area in the second half of the Holocene showed features both of forest and steppe pedogenesis. The indicators of such trends are: 1. A complex of clay cutans is already present in the soil buried under the fortification walls of 5 century BC, indicating that during or before the Early Iron Age soil experienced forest-type pedogenesis; 2. Bleached sand and silt grains in the lower part of the Mollic horizon (greyzemic features) prove that the studied period had been rather dynamic; 3. Calcareous profile is a dynamic enough feature, subject to reversible changes within the studied space-and-time range. The East European Plain in the second half of the Holocene had been an arena of complex peoples interactions. Migrations of various ethnic groups were largely determined by climate change. The results of buried soils analyses could enlighten peculiarities of those historic processes.
