In the present work, we investigate the case of branching sequences of SW rearrangements in chlorinated C76. We present a detailed DFT investigation of the regiochemical effect of the chlorination pattern in the parent IPR-C76 on the SW transformations. Transition state calculations and Transition State Theory (TST) rate constant estimates are invoked to explain selective formation of only several particular non-IPR chlorides among a multitude of possibilities.
