Monolayer graphene films were grown by CVD method on a copper foil and transferred onto glass or SiO2/Si substrates. Field emission (FE) from the films was studied using the macroscopic luminescent screen anodes and by the scanning anode field emission technique. The experiments have shown that the current from a single emission site on the graphene edge can be very high up to 10uA. This value is close to the maximal value of the current which is typically observed from a single carbon nanotube emitter. The current-voltage characteristics of the graphene have shown certain deviations from the classical Fowler-Nordheim law of FE from metals. The structural analysis of the graphene was performed by Raman and SEM techniques. The mechanisms responsible for the observed FE characteristics are discussed.
