Sangaredi Bauxite deposit occurring in Futa Jallon-Mandingo province in Guinea is the richest bauxite deposit in the world. It has formed after Middle Miocene continental sediments of Sangaredi Group and Devonian silty mudstones. It is a unique deposit in terms of variety of mode of bauxite occurrences, very high alumina grade and thickness of mineralization, resource, and sedimentary nature of its origin. The paper discusses these characteristics of bauxite and a 3-stage genetic evolution of bauxite mineralization.
